import equations from Microsoft Word into Indesign

 need to paste a microsoft word 2007 document - including equations - into Adobe Indesign.
The word document is written in microsoft word 2007 (PC version) and I cannot open the document in my word 2008 (for mac - version). I´ve tried to paste the document directlt into indesign - but the eqations are just not being pastet - only the rest of the text.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem?

When the text is imported, via the Word importer, you will (as Aalandriel mentions) get low-res versions of the equations. If you also print a PDF version, you can open that documents in Illustrator, where it will vectorize what cannot be reproduced with normal characters.

Here, you can select to outline it all and replace the low-res version from InDesign with this new, vectorized version.
